Mogadishu Port Authority Hosts Capacity-Building Program for University Students

17 October 2025

As part of its commitment to capacity building and academic engagement, the Health and Safety Department of the Mogadishu Port Authority conducted a specialized training program for Somali students from Banadir University, specifically members of the 9th Batch from the Faculty of Management and Economics, Department of Procurement and Logistics Management.

The program aimed to strengthen students’ practical understanding of port operations, logistics, and safety management, complementing their academic studies with real-world exposure. During the visit, the students participated in a guided tour of Mogadishu Port led by Mr. Mohamed Osman from the Operations Team, who provided detailed insights into daily port activities, operational workflows, and management systems.

The tour allowed students to directly observe how theoretical concepts in procurement, logistics, and operations are applied within a complex maritime environment, helping bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional practice.

Students and representatives of Banadir University expressed their appreciation to the Director General of the Mogadishu Port Authority, H.E. Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur (Americo), for facilitating the visit and supporting initiatives that enhance practical learning and professional development for Somali youth.

The engagement reflects the Mogadishu Port Authority’s broader commitment to human capital development, knowledge sharing, and collaboration with academic institutions, as it continues to invest in the next generation of professionals who will contribute to Somalia’s economic and logistical growth.
