Mogadishu Port Unveils New Equipment to Strengthen Operations

As part of its ongoing modernization and operational efficiency drive, the Director General of the Mogadishu Port Authority, H.E. Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur (Americo), officially unveiled 16 new forklifts to enhance cargo handling capacity and support daily port operations.

The addition of the new equipment represents a significant step toward improving operational performance, reducing turnaround times, and strengthening service delivery across the Port. This investment aligns with the Authority’s broader strategy to modernize infrastructure, adopt efficient technologies, and meet growing trade demands.

The acquisition follows recent international recognition of Mogadishu Port as the leading port in East Africa and the fourth most improved port in Africa, underscoring the tangible progress achieved through sustained reforms and targeted investments.

In his remarks, H.E. Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur (Americo) reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining momentum in the Port’s transformation. He emphasized that continued innovation, operational excellence, and workforce motivation remain central pillars in advancing Mogadishu Port’s competitiveness and long-term growth.
