Prime Minister Commends Mogadishu Port’s Achievements and Operational Excellence

The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, today received the Minister of Ports and Marine Transport, H.E. Abdulqadir Mohamed Nur, and the Director General of the Mogadishu Port Authority, H.E. Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur (Americo), at his office for a high-level meeting focused on the performance and progress of Mogadishu Port.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister commended the leadership, management, and staff of Mogadishu Port for the significant advancements achieved across all port operations. He praised the Authority’s commitment to reform, efficiency, and modernization, noting the Port’s growing role as a strategic national asset.

H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre specifically congratulated Mogadishu Port on its international recognition as the best port in East Africa and the fourth most improved port in Africa. He highlighted these achievements as a reflection of strong leadership and institutional dedication, emphasizing their positive impact on Somalia’s economic growth, trade facilitation, and maritime development.

The meeting reaffirmed the Federal Government’s continued support for the development of Somalia’s ports and maritime sector, recognizing Mogadishu Port as a key driver of national development and regional connectivity.
