The Director General of the Mogadishu Port Authority, H.E. Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur (Americo), formally honored the individuals and agencies involved in the successful seizure of a container carrying prohibited items, which was publicly showcased on 16 October 2025.
The recognition ceremony acknowledged the coordinated efforts of the Somali Police Force, the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), the Port’s Directorate of Customs, and the Somali Standards and Quality Authority (SOBS). Their joint action played a critical role in preventing items that pose risks to public safety and national security from entering the capital.
During his remarks, H.E. Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur (Americo) commended the professionalism, vigilance, and inter-agency cooperation demonstrated throughout the operation. He emphasized that Mogadishu Port remains committed to upholding the rule of law and maintaining the highest security standards within the Port and beyond.
The Director General reaffirmed that the Mogadishu Port Authority will hold fully accountable anyone attempting to misuse the Port to introduce prohibited or dangerous items. He stressed that protecting public safety, securing critical infrastructure, and promoting law and order are non-negotiable priorities for the Authority.
The recognition reflects Mogadishu Port’s strong commitment to security, transparency, and collaboration with national institutions, ensuring the Port continues to operate as a safe, secure, and trusted gateway for Somalia’s trade and economic activity.
