The Director General of the Mogadishu Port Authority, H.E. Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur (Americo), participated in the 2nd International Port & Marine Development Conference held in Dubai, where he engaged in high-level discussions with senior leaders from AD Ports Group, Tanger Med Engineering (TME), and other regional and international port authorities.
The conference provided a strategic platform for exchanging global best practices and exploring opportunities to accelerate the development of Mogadishu’s new deep-sea port. Discussions focused on port planning and design, operational efficiency, coastal shipping, and logistics expansion, with particular emphasis on building modern, resilient, and competitive maritime infrastructure.
During the engagements, H.E. Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur (Americo) highlighted Somalia’s maritime development priorities and the central role of Mogadishu Port in supporting national economic growth, trade facilitation, and regional connectivity. He underscored the importance of partnerships and technical collaboration in advancing large-scale port development projects and strengthening coastal shipping networks.
These engagements form part of broader efforts to strengthen Somalia’s maritime sector and further position Mogadishu Port as a strategic regional hub. They also build on the Port’s recent international recognition in the World Bank’s Container Port Performance Index (CPPI), where Mogadishu Port was ranked as the top-performing port in East Africa.
The participation of Mogadishu Port Authority in the conference reflects its continued commitment to international cooperation, innovation, and long-term planning as it works toward developing world-class port infrastructure that meets global standards and supports sustainable economic development in Somalia.
